Truth, Myth, and The Missing Years of The First Followers of The Way…

49The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him. 50Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the Centurion, and they that were with him watching Jesus, saw the earthquake and those things that were done, they feared greatly saying, “Truly this was the Son of God.

                                                                  Matthew 27: 49-54 (KJV)

Throughout the ages, kings and men seeking power have sought to find and possess the spear that pierced the side of Christ. Why? According to legend, he who holds the spear will hold the power to control the world for either good or evil purposes.

In my quest to find why men believed this spear held a power so great, it became clear that there was no actual documentation leading up to the historic hunt that continues to this very day. Given to reason one must acknowledge that some chain of events must have taken place at the time of the centurion who originally possessed it in order for kings and Roman Caesars to covet it so.

The Foxe Book of Martyres shows the passion of the first followers of the way of Jesus. The persecution of the early church was cruel and a shock to see what they had to endure to stand for Jesus as Lord. Today, we have no idea how lukewarm the church has become, nor how it has been the devils plan to destroy it from its’ inception.

Therefore the question- What took place at the time of Longinus the centurion to give the spear its magical illusion?

I set out to find this answer and it led to writing a book that would unveil some of the real events of that hidden timeline of what happened to the followers of Christ that were never spoken of again beyond the four gospels? What was it that those in power have tried so hard to hide from all who read the Bible? What are they hiding from this last generation cloaked in lukewarm complacency?

This book was written as a biblically themed, fictional concept of what may have taken place to bring such fame to a simple Roman hasta, but more importantly what it was like to be one of the first followers of the way who took a stand for Jesus and his teachings. It was written to awaken people’s hearts to see how blessed we have been to have the word of God and yet, have no idea of the great persecution and tribulation the first followers went through so we could read it.

In research for the book, it became evident that the real attack was on the Kingdom of God by the devil himself. A great spiritual warfare. The fact seems to be that it is not the spear itself, but the blood upon the spear that has the power to overcome all darkness and set up a kingdom that can never be destroyed and those at the time all knew it. Perhaps the very mystery of the Lord’s own words and his promise to return to do this very thing is what started the quest to find the spear? We may never know.

This story provides a look into the man who originally held the spear and what struggles he might have faced. It also portrays what might have happened in the lives of Mary Magdalene and other disciples at the time. It is a bold look into the very first ones who sought the power of the spear and how the reputation surrounding its mystery may have actually started. The missing years are both intriguing and mysterious, leaving one’s imagination to fill in the blanks.

When I began writing, it became evident that there were lessons to be learned in the quest for the spear of destiny.

One: the battle between good versus evil is one that continues to this day and is as ancient as mankind. Two: the true power lies within the blood and not an artifact. Three: the power of the blood is truly as alive and well today as it was the day it was first spilled on the cross.

Please enjoy this compelling saga full of emotionally charged, action-packed twists and turns as the forces of good and evil work their intrigue to bring the man Longinus to his knowledge of truth. A truth that leads him to understand principalities and powers, free will, and how to serve a master other than Rome.

The sequel “The Spear of Destiny II” was first written as a screenplay as a sequel to the Spear of Destiny, as it too was first a screenplay which is still in development. It has recently been published as the message within it is so timely for the times we are living in. That’s 3 books of of your I need to buy and read. When you write, I feel like you are looking directly into my spiritually thirsty soul. My years of religious schooling, church attendance and biblical studies have never woven historical times into biblical studies. Your ability to do both and keep the reader engaged is truly a gift. Thank you Dianne!

Very intriguing Diane!! I will definitely check them out!! Speaking of relics, I’ve wondered also about the cat-o-nine tails with which He was whipped. It must have been soaked with His blood and even some of His flesh had to have clung to its woven pieces of glass and metal. I imagine more of His blood surrounded that whipping post than even ground beneath the cross, as that haunting scene of Mary, His mother, wiping up the blood in the movie The Passion illustrated. What became of that whip and the soldier who inflicted those stripes. Did he ever learn that by those stripes we are healed and that his act, which Satan meant for harm, the Holy Spirit prophetically pre-determined to be for our benefit? That knowledge could have brought sorrow to death or joy to everlasting life for that Roman. I know the Catholic Church preserved many relics. Was this whip preserved?

Satan’s got this one right… There’s power in the blood of Jesus. Cleansing power! Power to break all of the powers of darkness. Healing power! Forgiving power! Saving power! Power, power, power! Precious is the blood of Jesus. Break bread and drink from His cup often in Holy Communion to commemorate this powerful gift, brothers and sisters. Bless you, Dianne, for these beautiful writings…I’ll look into them soon.

I am so blessed to be apart of this group and your writings have made me search and learn no TV more me in months !! Ok I use to go to Bible study when I worked at a nursing home and the teacher was a long time preacher and he said an angel was assigned to follow along behind Jesus to pick up every drop of blood because all the blood represented our sins and our salvation so when he returned to his father GOD he had to take every drop of blood with him so I would think that the relics were taken by the angel so he could have every drop of blood from the crown of thorns to the spear to the vessel he was given the vinegar from to the nails and anything else that had his precious blood on it my mind the artifacts would have been put somewhere even if they no longer had blood on them because it was important that the dogwood tree never grew large enough to ever nail anyone else on it and why would it not be important to hide the torture items from those who had any part in this horrible death for centuries man has searched for the ark and the shroud of turin and other stuff but to no avail anyway that is just my 2 cents in all this GOD bless you for helping us open our eyes wide

    1. They were so frightened by the Lord even after his death, for he had risen and many saw him. He did not hide himself as some have said.He appeared to over 500 people at one time the Bible tells us!
1st Corinthians 15:1-11 Now I’m making known to you, brothers, the gospel that I proclaimed to you, which you accepted, on which you have taken your stand, 2 and by which you are also being saved if you hold firmly to the message I proclaimed to you—unless, of course, your faith was worthless.

3 For I passed on to you the most important points that I received: The Messiah died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 he was buried, he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures—and is still alive!— 5 and he was seen by Cephas, and then by the Twelve. 6 After that, he was seen by more than 500 brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Next he was seen by James, then by all the apostles, 8 and finally he was seen by me, as though I were born abnormally late.

9 For I am the least of the apostles and not even fit to be called an apostle because I persecuted God’s church. 10 But by God’s grace I am what I am, and his grace shown to me was not wasted. Instead, I worked harder than all the others—not I, of course, but God’s grace that was with me. 11 So, whether it was I or the others, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.
This was never stressed in my church(s). Nor was the account of the others who had risen and testified to people as it says in Mathew 27:52. The time for all the truth to be told…and talked about is today. They who know not Jesus feared the truth then, and they fear it now. Amen.

Yeshua never attended a church. We have to let go of those Roman lies; to truly understand Messiah. All those lies come from the Vatican.
    Mark 1:21
They went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the legendary Herschel Walker ran for the United States Senate in Georgia? He would be unstoppable, just like he was when he played for the Georgia Bulldogs, and in the NFL. He is also a GREAT person. Run Herschel, run!
